BIOGRAPHY

Marcello Leanza is an Italian jazz promoter, music teacher, saxophone and flute player.
He worked intensively as a music promoter during the ’80s and the ’90s.  Staying in close contact with many great artists has allowed him to deepen his comprehension of the musical languages, their roots, and their contaminations especially. 
He has dealt with dozens of jazz, pop, and world music performances and festivals, thanks to which he feels at ease in most music genres. 
As a music teacher, he’s been teaching to pupils of all ages since 1985. His method is based on the development of the ‘inner ear’, in tune with the jazz giants who strongly recommend to “sing what you play”.
During his professional career on stage, he has been playing a large variety of musical styles, from jazz to tango, latin, blues, ethnic, pop. He boasts a long experience in entertainment, as he has been playing in 5-star hotels, resorts, corporate events and jazz festivals, performing “solo” or within small combos, big bands, classical ensembles.
He possesses a good sightreading and a high professional attitude.
While his native language is Italian, he is fluent in spoken and written English and French.

Relevant Work Experiences

In 1999 and 2001, he plays in Scandinavia on board of DSDF and SILJA Line cruise ships.
In 2001, he plays at Canale 5 prestigious festival “I Ragazzi Irresistibili”.
From 2004 to 2007, he collaborates on 5 editions of the International Festival “Jazz & Much More” in Dubai and

Abu Dhabi.

In 2009 and 2010, he is on tour with Carmen Consoli, famed Italian singer. The tour comprises more than 60 concerts in the most prestigious Italian theatres.
Between 2012 and 2013, he tours in Europe and South America with the Jackhammer Band, on board of Costa Crociere's luxury vessels.
From February to June 2014, he plays as a Halcat (showband musician) on board of Zuiderdam, a cruise ship of Holland America Line.
From 2016 to 2018 he’s been teaching music to children at the prestigious Linus School, located in Catania.
In the NYE’s 2019 and 2020 he has performed as a Solo Saxophonist in Dubai.

LIBERTANGO 5TET -  A long lasting project appraised by some jazz masters for its originality and freshness. Featuring instrument is the accordion.

THE GENTLE JAZZ BAND - A modular combo (from solo sax to quintet) suitable for elegant and smooth settings. Huge playlist, high technical level.

THE SIZE 46 STREET BAND - 7 musicians, a joyful, strolling marching group who plays an acoustic set among the audience.

DANNYD & THE HOT BILLIES - Humorous and glamorous Rockabilly quartet, the spirit of the fabulous ’50s!

THE JACKHAMMER BAND -  A highly energetic party band that includes 4 lead voices. Highly appreciated has been their tribute to The Beatles.

GOOD FRIENDS - A little-big orchestra created by the keyboardist  Anthony Panebianco. Luxury cover band!
